Christmas Time Frustration

Is anyone else out there who has a negative time during Christmas? I want to pay down my mortgage. When Christmas comes around I get really irritated at giving out money and gifts. I am a giving person but lately it has me frustrated at money going out to others instead of that money making a double or triple mortgage payment so I can eliminate this debt. I feel aweful inside but it frustrates the hell out of me. Whatever happened to gifts for just the wee ones? For the older ones, what is wrong with a good meal, good conversation and cheer without shelling out money and gifts?

I get frustrated, too. I have a big Catholic Italian family who goes all out for Christmas. I tried saying in past years to just not buy me presents because I couldn't afford to buy any, but then they did and they guilted me pretty bad about it (in a silent way). It's just really tough being a student, fending for myself, and then having to worry about presents.

To be honest I don't really like family stuff either so Christmas eve is pretty much a nightmare.
