I actually had it happen to me once, where I broke my finger, got it x-rayed, doctor's told me it wasn't broken and it was.
My finger was double its normal size, black and blue, and has a blood blister. I ended up going to a bone specialist a month or two after the injury, and he x-rayed my finger again. Turns out I was missing a CHUNK of bone and I tore both ligaments on either side of my finger.

Can't read the entire thread right now so I'm jumping into a post. Sorry if this is off topic.

I sprained my neck once. Bad. Doctors had a hard time telling if it was broken or not. They decided it wasn't and so I went to the chiropractors. She yelled at me (we knew each other pretty well lol) for not coming immediately instead of going to the ER and wasting time, and then adjusted me. Instant relief. Within a week I was doing much better.

And then I broke my arm once. The doctors insisted I didn't break it. My mom insisted they show my X-rays to someone else who found a hairline fracture. I had full use of my fingers the whole time.

And then I broke my thumb once. Went to the chiro on a normal visit after it happened. She palpated my hand and sent me to the ER to get a cast.

There could be some other damage like tendons or ligaments. You could have bruised them and the bones really badly. Hand injuries hurt pretty bad.

A good chiro can do great stuff. I'd go find second opinion with another doctor and go to the chiro for their opinion as well.

Yes. When I factured my arm, the doctor couldn't see a break at first and it wasn't until a week later when he was reveiwing his patients that I got a call saying that I actually had a broken arm.

When I got the call, I was jumping a pony over our first course so I pretty much told him what he wanted to hear and kept riding. Never did get a cast, but it didn't hurt much.
