darn raccoons!

So I discovered that we have a momma raccoon & litter of babies in our indoor arena wall. Was tons of fun when they went skittering up the wall while I was putting the 3rd ride on a colt. He handled himself surprisingly well with a quick leap sideways but no buck or anything else. Quickly finished our ride on the other end and put him up. I'm hoping to find the momma in the live trap later, then we will have to pull the osb off the wall and catch the little ones. Then a long truck ride to the middle of nowhere to find a new home in my father in laws woods.

My hubby is not thrilled, he gets to cap all of the walls as soon as we get rid of them lol!

Thanks! Caught them last night...the babies are so darn cute, I almost felt bad moving them lol!

I'm glad he didn't spook too bad either, he held it together well for a youngster, especially since he couldn't see them.

You got mom too? Wow, the moms will attack if you get too close. Good that you got em and they can go somewhere else. Who knows what they are carrying.

Yep, momma coon gladly went in a live trap that had 2 cans of sardines waiting on her. We had to tear the sheeting off the wall and get the babies out. They were still pretty little, cute balls of fluff they were! Put them in a dog crate and my wonderful hubby relocated them. I do have a very disappointed little girl who was certain she needed to keep and bottle feed one...I told her a pony, rabbit, 2 cats and her dog are more than enough pets for one 5 year old girl lol!

Yikes about what they carry, huh!? The instant I heard them it was like neon flashing EPM, Rabies, EPM EPM EPM, ack!

Aw, you didn't keep one?? Haha! No thanks. They are cute but get frisky and bite. No good for kids. Well they are happier now I'm sure! Do raccoons cary epm? I know opossums do. Killed one in our barn last year. Effer took many bullets to die. Poor thing but wasn't going to chance our horses health!

Nope didn't keep one, haha! They can carry epm, a good friend lost a mare to it and vet attributed it to coons after they found droppings all over in their hay barn.
