Finally went thro two drawers that held a lot of stuff from my sewing days. Empty drawers are now smiling at me and the trash bin is full. I don't know why I held on to it for so long, that old frugal notion of it being good stuff. More drawers need tending to so I shall pull up a comfy chair armed with a bag for papers and the trash can. I find that when the house or drawers become cluttered, my brain feels cluttered. How do others keep this under control? I swear it multiplies when the drawers are closed.

Clutter and disorganization drives me loony tunes, I am like you, I feel better when it's dealt with. Do you ever watch that A & E show called Hoarders? After I watch that, I feel a strong urge to clean & throw out stuff & organize!

Hoarders makes me feel like a mini version and I get the same feelings you do.

I'm a minimalist. I like very little furniture, few to no knick knacks or art work.

I throw stuff away or give it away any time I notice an item I haven't used for a long time. I can get re-runs of "Hoarders" on the internet, and put an episode on every time I pack, unpack, or do a deep cleaning!

I'm wondering if the producers of that show ever thought of the impact it had on the non-hoarder. One elderly gal reminded me that when we die, someone else has to deal with the stuff and it's not fair to them.
