The Drought and States taking personal water wells.

First of all this is wrong.
If the state Owns the water because it IS UNDERGround..

THEN who Owns the Oil, as it is much deeper UNDER ground than the water.

AND if it is PUBLIC LANDS,, why does the STATE charge the public to use the land,
And tell the Public they cannot go on the land.

HMMM ?

Because we are a nation of weenies who stopped standing up for their personal rights a long time ago, and keep voting for those who increasingly grab MORE of our personal rights in the name of the greater good. (meaning the good of their own pockets, of course) Do you suppose people will ever wake up and deal with this?

oil found or drilled on public land belows to "the public". Supposedly, we get revenues from the oil companies who pay for the right to drill and take the oil.

I have a well, and I would wonder how they would monitor what I take.

Don't feel too bad, some American companies have water rights in 3rd world countries and don't allow people to even collect rain water!

Probably would take it. And I now remember that some areas here in the U.S. Also consider rainwater to be theirs. I read a news story about people wanting to use cisterns and being blocked.

Whisper, they have gone in and put Meters on peoples wells. You know they did not go pay for it what it cost to have that well drilled, pump placed etc.
It just makes me irate.
Some areas said they could only use a certain size rain barrel, as the rain replenishes the ground water.
Some communities near me, have fined people for letting the lawns get a little brown, saving water, but they are talking $500.00 penalty for wasting water , and do not allow rain collection barrels as they are 'eye sores.
It is just so ridiculous, insulting, and wrong.
