    DTV CONVERTER BOXES.....help....

OK...so I got my coupons and went and bought the converter boxes... Hooked them up properly... and I GET NOTHING!!!

I called the guy at radio shack and he asked how old my antenna is....I haven't a clue but I'm sure it's plenty old. He said that the gov't didn't tell anyone that older antenna's may not receive the digital signals (they just aren't capable) Soooooooo...for another $100 I can upgrade my antenna.

Does this sound legit or is it bunk??? We don't watch a lot of TV so I didn't want to go out and get DISH and our TV is just fine, I can't really justify buying a new TV and if the antenna we have needs upgraded a new DTV wouldn't help anyways...

    So what do ya'all think?

I can't pick up FOX anymore. The guy explained it to me like this...with analog (old stuff) you could see a picture but it might be blurry because the signal is weak...but you could still see it. With digital you have to have about 60% signal or it won't show up at all. So with digital the picture is either all or nothing. They told me to get FOX I would have to have one of those roof mounted antennas (HIDEOUS!). So after the "Big Gay Switch" I will only be able to watch NBC, CBS, and ABC...since I refuse to pay $100 a month for cable.

My advice...get Netflix...its only $9 a month and ALL the shows are on there...I just got it and I LOVE it!! And the news is all online.

Thanks!!! I'm too cheap to pay for Dish or Cable. We already have a fugly rooftop antenna so I guess we'll just upgrade it!
