Gotcha. I don't know all that much about the darned things, just knew the advertisements are crowing about the Kindle Fire being in color.

I did know the Fire was a tablet, but I really don't get the eInk thing versus backlit. I'm guessing my Kindle app is backlit.

The eInk is basically like reading a paper book. It's not as eye straining as looking at a phone, tablet or computer to read. All of those as backlit.

Gotta love technology lol

My nook goes everywhere with me.

Mhmm I never believed the ads - how could a screen look just like a page??? Until a friend of mine got a basic Kindle and I was very impressed.

Looks like I'll end up getting a black and white Kindle or Nook. I guess people who want both colour and e-ink are a pretty small niche market.

Then how do you read during a power outage? I could still read my Kindle books when I didn't have power during several of our crazy thunderstorms this year. With a regular book, I didn't have enough light to read in the house.

I could get at least 3 hours of reading done on my Droid before I had to plug it into the truck charger.

You have to have a light source of some sort. I can't read books on my Droid or on my computer for long without getting a migraine (kind of ironic since I have to type all day long )

The only complaint I have is that the Droid is awkward to read from long term, because it's really too small. The screen is sufficiently large to read, but the phone itself isn't the right size to hold comfortably for a long time. That's why I want a Kindle Fire, because it's a tablet and much more comfortable to hold long term.

Didn't know they are free! Have to check it out.

I ordered kindle book just couple weeks back (my own stupidity). Didn't know what was that, and price was like $5. So I was all excited about getting $20+ book for just $5. Till I felt something is too suspicious about the price and delivery, and started to read what kindle is..... Cancelled it within an hour (and should order the papered one).

Daughter loves her kindle fire... reads on it ... not sure why I bought her the fire. I think she would have been just as happy with a cheaper version. She has an Ipod touch and the newest Iphone as well as a laptop and a computer so she doesn't need her reader to go online.

Bought my granddaughter the Nook Color and she is very happy with that as well. Course she is almost 10 and I bought it for her hoping she would read more but she just plays angry birds I think :)
