Just go to Amazon.com, and in the Search function type 'Free Kindle Books'. You'll get all kinds of stuff.

I have the kindle app on my iPad as well which syncs with my kindle. It's good for books I might buy that have colour illustrations.

I love that the kindle lasts FOREVER on one charge.

I have a book light with batteries that I clip to the top of the kindle to read in bed at night, it works really well.

Folks, one more question... For those of you reading in several languages does Kindle or Nook work for other (not English) languages as well?

Great thread! I plan of getting a Fire for my wife for our anniversary in two weeks. I had been looking at different options and based on a good friend's recommendation, as well as this thread, decided that the Fire is the way to go.

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

I know the kindles do because my basic has other options for language.

I have the Fire and I looove it. Such an awesome toy.. I do love that it has all of the good features of the Kindle but it can also surf the web, download games, more book space than the Kindle.. Just love it!

I did some research earlier today. Looks like Kindle does (they have Chinese, Japanese, etc. options), but not Nook. So I think I set on Kindle (most probably Touch).

I am adding my vote for the kindle fire. I love mine. I bought all my textbooks as e-books and put them on there. It makes it so much more convenient (and cheaper).

I love my Kindle. I don't have the fire, nor will I ever, again for the reasons mentioned. Back lit books are not right lol.

For those worried about reading when the power goes out and you have no light - the Kindle does have a cover that has a reading light in it. It takes charge from the Kindle battery, so is very convenient.

Mods, grant me the serenity to see the opinions I cannot change, courage to change the ones that should change, and the wisdom to spot the trolls.
