Well the other side of the spectrum boots... We have so much snow we are having to buy extra hay, and we are really worried about the flooding in the spring. With all the water we are supposed to get in the summer, there won't be much good hay around. Hay prices will go up here, and more animals will be sold. Right now our prices are quite low compared to yours, we pay around $20-$25 for a 600-800 lb bale of alfalfa/grass hay. But if prices go up. It'll be crazy around here for sure.
My Dad bought what he thought was enough hay for the winter and then had to go and buy more just a couple weeks ago because winter is lasting so long and we have so much snow. I'm basically paying double this year compared to last year. So the snow has it's advantages and disadvantages.
I hope that things start looking up there for you and your fellow ranchers.

And outside we have.........Snow snow snow snow snow snow snow snow....

Get up, get going, seize the day. Enjoy the sunshine, the rain, cloudy days, snowstorms, and thunder. Getting on your horse is always worth the effort.

The first day of spring, yesterday, was the first nice day we've had in a long time;above 0 C,sunny, just a slight breeze,it was lovely! But I should have know it wouldn't last, after all,it is Alberta, and lambing season is just starting for us,which is a sure fire way to bring on a blizzard, lol. This morning, snowing like crazy, howling wind, cold. *sigh*
Almost 6 straight months of winter,I'm so over it!

Sunshine and much warmer today. It's still below freezing but I didn't need my jacket. I've spent the last two hours shovelling my paths out, again. The snow in front of the hay shed was to my waist. Once inside I was able to refill the grain bucket I keep at the house. Then opened another path to another building. This was all snow banks from plowing and crusty. I'd slice it with the spade then toss the block of snow aside. The sides had to be tapered outward to make it easier to throw the snow. My body was at the point where it was crying "enough, no more". As soon as I stopped my body didn't want to move. After a small rest I realized how hungry I was. That's what stubborness does.

The wind is so rank today. I think it is worse than yesterday. It's blowing all the grids in, and making highways terrible. We are supposed to get more snow tonight, until Saturday I believe. So not impressed. We already broke our snowfall record this winter.

That Saskatchewan crap had better now blow here. I'm not sure I can summon any more strength for shovelling.

Yeah, it's pretty much closed down the whole province. We still have good roads right around Carlyle, but you get even out to Arcola and the roads a nasty. I decided not to go to my guitar lesson in Forget today. I don't need to risk it with a little car with out winter tires.
