I'm against people who throw animals away in general.

I recently read an article where this man had several people report the neglect of his horses as well. He didn't feed them properly or something. However they were there to feed the tigers, but that's no excuse to neglect them. If that article was true or not. I have no idea.

    Very true, Val.

Whether a non-native animal is deliberately turned loose or they get out accidentally, it always seems to spell ecological disaster for the native species.

There are rogue hippos in South America now, and they're causing all sorts of havoc. Instead of just killing them off, the government is trying to keep them contained and controlled. It's not working very well, especially since there are bleeding heart groups who say they should be left alone to be 'free' and 'wild'. Sounds kinda familiar, doesn't it?

    Anyone here watch Fatal Attractions?

Every day I think people can't get any dumber, and every time I watch that show, I'm proven wrong. I will never understand why anyone would want a wild animal as a "pet". If the whole appeal is their wildness, why would you cage them and keep them in your house? That is not love.

Katesrider, I totally agree. Wild animals belong in the wild or in zoos. I don't even think pythons and boas should be available to the general public. They're too **** dangerous and they often end up in the wrong hands.

Is it not amazing how many people feel some sort of a magical bond with a tiger? And then when it attacks them, they say the tiger didn't mean it?

Oh, yes, Kates, all of us do. I felt very bad seeing those abandoned dogs and cats when I was living in NYC. You come to the dog run in morning and first thing you see is the dog left there overnight. Very sad... Personally (I have pets since I was 5 yo), I don't understand how one can be so irresponsible and cruel.

And I just don't get it. Around here you can dump your unwanted animals in the humane society for free yet people still just dump their pets on the streets. Yeah a lot of the pets will end up being euthed, but a good bit will make it to adoption as well. Whatever the case, it's better than them having to fend themselves in the streets.
