You just made me spit out my drink lol. As I read this I could hear him saying it in my head. I watch this movie at least twice every Christmas season
My top favorite is Christmas Vacation. And just about every other Christmas movie known to man.
I love ALL of the ones listed so far. Especially Rudolph, that's the one I like to watch first. It's my ultimate favorite.
I'm soooo excited to watch them! <3
Rudolph, always. Cartoon Grinch (not that piece o' ****e Jim Carrey thing), The Santa Clause (not the 2 sequels), Home Alone, and my favorite one A Christmas story!
It's a Wonderful Life, A Christmas Carol, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (classic cartoon) are three of my favorites. I also like Frosty the Snowman and Santa is Coming To Town. I used to love Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer when I was a kid but watching it as an adult kind of turned me off.
I mean Santa of all people should have known that Rudolph was special from the get go. But instead he joined in with the rest of the wolf pack to chastise, make fun of his birth defect, and altogether make young Rudolph feel like he was useless. Then dejected Rudolph leaves with the misfit elf that Santa was also always angry and yelling at all of the time.
It wasn't until Santa had a dilemma that he couldn't fix on his own that Rudolph seemed to suddenly be a grand idea. So they hunt him down so Rudolph can save Christmas and Rudolph is supposed to be grateful that he now has a use in life and it's a happy ending.
I haven't seen that one in a good while but I don't remember Santa exactly apologizing to Rudolph or the misfit elf or even the rest of the misfit toys. Maybe he did, I don't remember.
I hope that I didn't traumatize anyone with my comments about Ruldolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It is meant to be funny sarcasm but still with truth to it.
Also, like I said, I haven't seen it in a while, but didn't they turn the abominable snowman into some sort of slave too?
Some kid movies are simply disturbing when you watch them as an adult. Makes one wonder what exactly they are trying to teach our kids... lol.
On the other hand, I am also horrified by a lot of movies and shows targeted at adults. I just resolve it by not watching much TV. Me and DH browse netflix some nights, and that's about it.
We did Thanksgiving for the in-laws. I remember being asked "what do you guys do without TV?" I was a bit in shock over the question and just kinda laughed it off. It's disturbing to me that people are so dependent on TV now.
Sorry for being morbid (just call me Scrooge!). I just watched It's a Wonderful Life for the first time this past week and loved it. I also really like Christmas with the Kranks.
ETA: Oh, and it's not a Christmas movie, but if we happen to see any 'A Christmas Carol' plays put on by a church or youth group or something, I always enjoy those.
Good points about Santa in Rudolph. And if I remember they turn the snowman into a Christmas ornaments hanger. I believe the line was he doesn't need a ladder. I do remember as a kid feeling sorry about the misfit toys. I think the happy ending made it all better. I have realized if have always noticed the ones left out. My favorite Dr. Seuss book was the Sneetches.
I am a big fan of the Christmas Carol. And thought the computer generated Disney version a few years ago with Jim Carrey was well done and visually stunning. I got to see it as a play as well and was really caught up in it.
Here is a quick video of the one I saw. Alabama actually has a very good thing in the Shakespeare Festival.
The Grinch! All the way!!!
Not the animated version though. The one with actors is sooo funny!
