Favorite love songs!

So, I won tickets to the Global Citizen Music Festival in NYC next month!! I entered thinking if I won I'd give them to my boyfriend for our anniversary, which is in two weeks. I can't believe I actually won!! Headlining is John Mayer, Alicia Keys, Kings of Leon, and STEVIE WONDER!

so anyway to go with the tickets I'm making a mini scrapbook of our last year together and a mix CD to go with it so I need some ideas! I'm short a few songs and I know you all have great taste! Please help!

^Wow.

I think it's a lovely gesture. Whether or not he's into that sort of music is really another matter entirely. The experience will be awesome, and I don't know anyone who isn't down for a trip to NYC.
Have fun!

no man is into that kinda music, Give the ticket to someone you can go an have fun with and will enjoy it, rather than someone you have to drag there and will be bored to tears. You guys will both enjoy the weekend.

its a good thing I have you, joe, otherwise i'd be having too much fun.

I wouldn't take him to this thing if I wasn't sure he'd enjoy it. Sorry it's no willie nelson or whatever junk you happen to listen to but just because you've got your opinion of what "no man" likes and dislikes doesn't make that absolute fact. Besides I didn't ask for an opinion on the show, I asked for songs I might not have heard of to mix things up a little. It might be surprising to hear this but I actually know my boyfriend pretty well and I wouldn't give him something I wasn't sure he'd love.
by the way, if he doesn't want to or can't go its not like I spent any money on them, my feelings and wallet would be just fine.

Well you can put me down in your number 1 slot for not being up to a trip to NYC.

hey you can stick your head in the sand if you like, just telling you like it really is. Insulting whatever music I like wont change that. Mens brains arnt wired the same as yours. That's just the way it is. Get all huffy if you like, wont change reality. But really just trying to help. See if you can get a couple to take the trip with you, you and the other girl can go to the show while the two men do something else. I mean if I had a gf come tell me she had tickets to john mayer, id say "Thats great honey, have fun".

NEWSFLASH mens brains aren't wired the same as each other's either, not to mention how different our cultures, social groups, GENERATIONS are. That alone doesn't give anyone the solid knowledge about gender likes and dislikes you claim to have. That being said, I know that the chance of seeing a music LEGEND like stevie wonder perform live is a much bigger deal to him and myself than it is to others. As a matter of fact it was a MALE friend of mine, let me repeat- a MAN, who won tickets also and told me to enter the contest in the first place. Making generalizations like that, that "men don't like that stuff," is simply unfair to everyone because how can you know what other people you've never even met before like? You're not being helpful or honest, you're talking about things and people you have not the slightest clue about. Country music might not be big news in Virginia (i'm not insulting, I simply grew up there) but here in new york we just got our first country radio station. Just a 6 hour drive away there's a totally different culture. Think about that.

Also I suggest you go to globalcitizen.org and learn a little bit more about this event and organization and what it means other than "oh john mayer is playing that means it sucks." you might even make a difference.

I don't know a single guy that I work with that would step foot at one of those artists concerts.
K I know I wouldn't even go to it. But everybody has their preferences.

That being said...I'm sure you know whether your BF would enjoy it or not and regardless its quality time together for y'all.

If you're looking for some good lovey dove country songs try Thompson Square. Being a married couple they have some really sweet country love songs

*Insert something witty*
