The latest is that over 170 have died in the fires. And they say in the news
Some were started on purpose. I hope they find them firebugs and reopen Devils Island and put them there and forget about them.

Oh goodness. I hope they find that person and send him to jail for the rest of his life! Boy oh boy I would love to hit him with a brick in the face!! The fires are going towards one of my relatives, she's moved some of her horses to NSW and keeping the other in a paddock of just dirt.
    My cousins are fighting fires.

I hope they find him. He's not human. I mean that.

He has destroyed over 700 home and killed more then 173 people! I really hope he suffers in prison. Maybe we should do what they did to the witches in the old days huh? I'm OK though, but I tell you what. Kingslake has nothing left anymore. Practically not even a town.

    Bloody *******!!!

Im in Queensland so Im OK! I hope the guy that started the fire gets put in jail for a long long time!!

Yah Im in QLD too so Im safe. Not affected by the floods up north or the fires down south so Im lucky. Im pretty sure its more than one person though but as you say 'not hooman' no human would do something like that although the chances of catching them are slim. Fire will just burn the evidence. You never know it may even have been as accidental as someone flicking a cigarette butt out the window. But still they deserve punishment.
To be honest I can't watch the news anymore, its just too horrible to watch the people bawling because they lost their homes. Yesterday someone led crews back to their house which basically was a pile of rubble they went out to the dog kennels and found the dogs had been killed of course and there was literally nothing left. Just horrible.....

The police and our Prime Mininster already said that all of the places that were burnt by the fires are being treated as crime scenes and that it is being a case of 'mass murdering'. I've herd a lot of stories. Since I live around the area of the fires. Well, not too close that I'm in danger. I know a lot of stories and such. I'll tell you some if you like.

Forgot to mention, when the firefighters had put out a fire somebody lit another again in the same area. The police are on the way to finding the person who lit the fires.

If you have any questions let me know because I probably have the answers to most of them.

Kiki-It has been proved that it was caused by an arsonist, so someone deliberetly lit some of the fires.

The firefighters are tramutatized and a lot of people that tried to escap ended up dieing on the road because it was so dark that they crashed, or a tree on fire fell on them etc.

Some people went back to save their dogs, horses etc. but they ended up dieing too.

I'm really proud of Australia because we have raised so much money. More then 10 million from the red cross and Salvos altogether. More then 15 million from Aussies through ONE TV show. Another almost 2 million from Aussies through ONE radio show and loads more. All of the moeny from a cricket match which was a few million, and another load of millions from companies and such. Add that up then chuck in another bunch of millions. I don't know the exact amount, because schools are raising funds and people are just donating over the phone. But I'm tipping a lot and a lot of million! Even during the finicial crisis we can still help out.

I can tell you one story about this Koala that was found by a man. The Koala ran up to the man (usually the run away from people) grabbed the man's hand and would not let go. He hung onto the man and wouldn't budge. The guy had a drink bottle with fresh water and held it up to the Koala's mouth and it drank it. You might find it on the cover of your local newspaper or on the innternet, but it brought me to tears. As does a lot of things to do with the fires.

Lemme know if you guys have any questions! And also if you want me to tell you some stories!!

Hope the rest of you Victorians are doing OK!

It's so sad and I really hope that this person or people get caught.

I'm in Victoria. I don't really know what to say... I haven't been directly affected, but the loss (people, houses animals, and the sheer amount of land that was burned) is just devastating. It's like a nightmare, it hasn't really sunk in yet. Every time you turn on the news you hear about more death and heartache, and the fires are still burning!
I know some people who lost houses, my uncle was up till 3 in the morning spotting fire on his property and he watched it come up and over the hill towards his house, and a good friend of the family, well, he's like family, is out there fighting the fires while his wife (my mum's best friend), is in hospital with some sort of virus.
Yeah, it's been a full on last couple of days...
I just cannot comprehend how someone would DELIBERATELY do this! It's just beyond my undertanding. I hope they catch the wackos who did this!
