It's always been a lucky day for me. Any horror stories about your 13th?

Nope, not for me. I didn't even make the "Friday the 13th" connection until I saw your thread so if I have any bad luck today, I'm going to blame you, Bill.

It's usually been a good day for me! We'll see what today brings though :)

Not many people are aware why its such bad luck or day.

On Friday October 13, 1307, the pope of Rome along with the King of France, deployed a secret death warrant against the Kights Templar.

They were tortured and executed as heretics.

Jacques DeMolay, their Grand Master was arrested and tortured and crucified before he was killed.

Other than the fact that I always used to scare the crap out of myself by watching movie marathons starring the above characters, no problems for me. LOL.

Springwolf, I've never heard that, and in fact, the fear of the number 13 and Fridays are a worldwide phenomenon, not just in Christian countries. The Turkish people especially, loathe the number 13.

Besides, you're quoting the legend incorrectly. The King of France and the Pope were supposed to be at odds with each other, and the Pope had excommunicated the King. Which is why the King put out an order to jail and then kill the Knights of the Templar.

There are differing opinions concerning the legend, nor has there ever been corroborating evidence for or against it.

I consider the number 13 to be lucky, because it's the number of Christ and the disciples. Plus, who doesn't love Friday?

I was under the impression Friday the 13th was considered unlucky because the 13th Disciple (Judas) betrayed Jesus, and Jesus was crucified on a Friday

i have two sons that were both born on friday the 13th

Judas was the 12th Disciple. There were only 12 but Jesus makes 13.
