GeeWillikers' last stand.

The fact that we can not debate or discuss current issues on this forum only perpetuates divisiveness. I want to post this video in recognition of what is going on currently in the US (and the world, sorry to say), and unfortunately it has NOTHING to do with horses.

The US has a VERY important election coming up. And, we are not allowed to discuss any of this. We have to talk about horses???? I'm sorry, I love Willy, and I love hearing about your horses, but what's really on our minds, Americans? Those of you in other countries are affected by this election as well. I promise you. Yes, we all love horses. But we all share this world together, and should be able to talk about it. This is a general off topic discussion.

If comments aren't allowed on this thread, then please email me at hurricaneans@hotmail.com. I am open to any criticism. I want to discuss.

I think because we are such a diverse group is the reason debates have been discouraged. Also the fact that we try to maintain a family 'G' rated tone overall, makes debates counterproductive. You may think that your comments are just your opinion, but to someone else it may be an assault on their beliefs or standards. The last thing we want to do here at the forum is alienate or lose a member because of a political statement. This isn't the place for it.

You said it yourself, this is a horse forum. If you want to have political discussions, do a google on "political forums" there is a plethora of sites to chose from, where I'm sure your political, racial, religious views will be met with open arms and a line of folks waiting to debate.
Please refrain from doing so here.

Debates are discouraged here for the reasons Vida mentioned, & also because a lot of people may get offended or will disagree with the situations you'd like to debate on. ;) We don't want any hard feelings here, & nor do we want to have anyone offended.
After all, this is a Horse Forum- not a debate forum. ;) I don't think it's necessary to have debates here.

im incredibly disappointed that you still feel the need to directly go against the rules of the forum after it has so recently been discussed in another thread where it was made clear that we do not allow religious or political debate. the reason for this were all listed. "discussion" of these topics leads to debate. debating leads to arguing.

as mentioned there are many other places you could go to more appropriately express your views on this political subject. please dont continue to start threads you know will either cause controversy or ones that will have to be removed.

I think the debate forum was removed on horseforum for
a reason, people like you and me are strong set in our
beliefs, while others may feel differently towards a situation
we are discussing...the outcome is chaos a majority of the
time with people arguing back and forth...it's crazy.

I made the mistake of posting a thread saying some things
on a poodle forum, while most people were extremely helpful,
this one girl got on their literally degrading me and cussing
me out when she had no right to. Due to that personal attack
I have left that forum.

It's been awhile, but I'm back & back in the saddle!

Can't say that I'm surprised...

Being able to voice one’s opinion is a right that we all share, but when that right goes against our forums rules and guidelines, I say take it somewhere else. Not saying that MYSELF or anyone else here is against one's right to free speech, but rules and guidelines are set forth for a reason, it's up to us to abide by them.

You knew when signing up for our forum that the main topic here was horses and horse related topics. I say we’re fortunate to even HAVE an off topic forum here. Administration didn’t have to provide us with this OT forum that we all love and share, so why abuse the privilege with making threads that are deliberately against forum rules?

In other words, if you know that debate is looked down upon here at HF, why make a thread that is meant to spar debate? Yes, great, you’re exercising your right to free speech, that’s wonderful, but do it within the rules of the forum that you have a privilege to be on in the first place.

I'm sorry about my very straight words but..

Have to say that it that debates are forbidden is one (and almost the only) lack over here. I know that debating can ferment strong feelings, but ithem are the only way if you want bring up profundities. And good discussions arouse profundities. I still know what can happen when there are uncontrolled discussions somewhere because the other forum where I tend to discuss is something like that (and there are more than only one charge of defamation which have impeach over there).

Still want to say that I'll respect rules of this forum and if debates are forbidden I won't embark topics which contain them.

Folks .. ( well, Americans anyway) your Constitutional right to Free Speech is the right to speak for or against the Government. That was very important to our forefathers. it does not give you the right to go against rules of a set organization, spread slander, and unfortunately, does not guarantee good taste or that your breath is minty fresh.
