Geez...volleyball tryouts!

Yup they were today. Well at least it was a conditioning day. Our cuts will be made next Tues. We have about twenty girls going at and my mom is coaching. She said its going to be hard because theres a few of the players all ranked together. She only wants to keep ten. Last year she kept fourteen and I was in the top five!!! Ya! Today we did a lot of running. Twently laps around our gym when 18 laps is a mile!!! It wasn't too bad. The 7th graders only had to run like ten. I did some really nice sprawls and pancakes! I had so much fun!!! If I make it I will be the second tallest on the team of five, seven the tallest is Marlen at five, eight! Grrr.. lol!!! I love sports...

Vollyball... You are so lucky you can play it. I love sports to, and I've tried every one of them. But i've also failed... horibly at them... Horses is the only thing I'm good at. Lol well except snow skiing, I went to New Mexico for 1 week and I was skiing blacks! I have to admit, it felt good to be good at something else. Lol

Today was the official tryout. We do a schedule of points on how you pass in each position and how you set and how you serve. Every one of my serves went over and one went all the way across the gym thingee...idk how to expain that one but it was sweet! My passes were all two's and three's(the highest was three). I don't think we did setting. I have all kinds of strawberries on my knees from doing pancakes and sprawls. We did more conditioning like lunges, high-knee skips, bla bla bla, and a little less running. It was pretty cool. I am probably best at my serving. Last year, in seventh grade, I served too hard and it hit someone in the bleachers!

No worries, Meg. You are probably great at a lot. And being good with horses is a blessing!!!

Your right about that last one

Good luck on the tryouts... I think you got it in the can though!!! From what I here your GREAT! How is Boo doin with jumping? Hey, by the way did you get the E-Mails? Do you have any pics of yall jumping yet?

I'm going to a horse show with Ruby on sunday. I think she'll do pretty good, but I'm showing her in a pre-beginer class because she's never been to a how before, I hope she dosen't freak out on me!=) I'll take pics and send them to you as well as post them. Check out horses for sell, and find "Horse for sell/Intermeadiate rider needed/$10,000" You'll see a pic of Sayer riding Golly there.

That's awesome about volleyball. As I said before we already have a team and are undefeated at 6-0. YAY!!!! Its too bad they don't expand school vball so that when you win in your area you move onto state then region and so forth. Probably too expensive. Yesterday we had a really pathetic game because we won 25-3 in one of the matches. When we got together after like an ace we were so tired because of running from serve recieve to base... Does your team do quick sets??? And what position are you?

Meg...THANKS! Boo is doing fine. No pics yet...sorry. He is sooo anxious and hyper I need to ride and exercise him more...Grr!

Latte62lover...I wish we had the state and region stuff. It would be cool. I can play every position. My mom thinks I could be liberal if I work hard at it but at our level we don't have one. We are pretty good from what I can see and I think we have 1st place in the bag but knock on wood. Ya we do quicksets.

Today we had more practice. Two hours every day. We didn't run a lot. And my mom laid off from soreness on the conditioning. I am still sore in my butt(lol) and my thighs. My calves were burning yesterday from all kinds of jumping. More updates later!!!

Yeah we have two hours everyday...i don't know if you team does but we play by the high school rules so we do have a libero (thats what we call it haha). I was going to be the libero but she put me in as middle hitter and back and a setter. I guess because our libero is amazing at passing and not as strong with hitting so she evened it out a little. Yeah im pretty sure that we'll win first but since we're a lot more advanced than other teams we tend to make stupid mistakes. Like our coach says: setting up for the hit gives us a better chance to score but a better chance to fail. Most teams just bump it over but we do the whole bump set spike thing. Haha yeah this year our biggest rival (normally) was our second easiest team to beat. But I don't want to get cocky. Keep sending me updates on your team and ill try to add more...wish us luck on our game tomorrow... and I know this is random but do you guys wear spandex or normal shorts??? Haha
    10-11-2007, 12:40 AM
Good luck!!! We wear shorter shorts. I am too big boned and chunky for spandex! Lol jk. I think I am average. Haha. Anyway, this year we are going to wear spandex underneath to get used to it I guess. My mom thinks I am going to be an outside hitter. Like I said, I am tall and I can serve across the gym! Lol. Our co-coach , Nicole, played college volleyball. She's a pretty big girl and she is really good. She is teaching us jump-serves. I served about two or three feet, from what I could see, when scheduling points for serves. And she told me, "Dang, lay off those Wheaties!" And I laughed and said, "I love them Wheaties!" Haha, I do!!! I love our team and our coaches! Haha. Our first game, I should say the first game, is October 25th. I really hope I make it!!! Ya! Thanks!!!

Cool yeah outside hitters have to be pretty strong. I have to say that I think that I advanced a whole lot over the past year. Last year I tried out and I didn't even know how to hold a vball. I obviously didn't make it but I tried out for travel and I did but my biggest problem was I am one of the most consistent servers on the team!!! And even though im not the best im really proud of my self because now im starting to catch up to some of the other girls... I would love to make the high school team. I think I might because our team is really amazing so everyone on it will have a pretty good reputation. Oh and we won our game. First was 25 to fifteen [[our team]]. Then 25-21 [[lost that one]] then 15-8 [[our team]]. One of the best servers did amazing today! I don't know why but in the second game we just weren't on track and we were 24-8 then our really great server comes on and gets us up to 21 from 8 points!!!! She must have amazing stats right now!

Ya volleball is pretty awesome. My mom used to coach highschool when I was a baby. I have been watching it since I was younger that a year old!!! Basketball is my fave sport and always will be! Lol. I can't wait for the PHX SUNS to start playing!!! I love them! Ya! Good job at your game. My mom says that I have a good chance at making the team in the top ten and I pray so!!! I missed two serves out of ten. The first miss was a bad toss. The second one was too hard and went back out of bounds on the other side! Dang...otherwise I think I did alright. There are these "popular" girls that are really spoiled and they are so called "perfect" but with many flaws. Guys love them because their pretty and sporty. I think every now and then, I am better at sports! They are just blondes inside or out and its funny! NO OFFENSE to anyone but them haha. Not to be mean but they are do I put this.....****ty. PLEASE excuse my language. They are "perfect" and "****ty" and what makes it really bad is that they KNOW it and refuse to accept it even though they seem to get worse and worse ESPECIALLY around the "popular" guys!!! GRRRRRR.... sorry guys too many memories! :( 8) just trying to stay cool here
