Guys & Girls that are friends is that such a weird thing

Ok I am very much a tom boy & for years I have encountered problems with my guy friends gfs having issues with us hanging out. I am just pondering over the subject cause another thread reminded me of a friend I don't see much cause his gf is a jealous girl!
I find it very frustrating cause I am always treated as one of the boys, but in saying that I am not that ugly I suspose but why are woman so untrusting of a guy/girl friendship?!
What about you ladies trust your men with a girl friend? What about you guys do you have girl friends & have any of our partners had a problem with it?
I just find it odd & over the years have had to back away from some of my guy friends because of possessive gfs.

Nothing wrong with that. To tell you the truth I think maybe half the friends I have are all males. A lot of it has to do with the career I'm in since it's male dominated but it's also a very personal thing. The way you deal with your life in general and the way you associate yourself with others will affect the gender of the friends you will more likely be making.
Nothing wrong with either decision you make :)

I study chemical engineering - my class is 70% male. I've just moved into a house with my four best friends here at uni: one girl and three boys.

I've had the other end of the spectrum too, coming from a primarily all-girls sixth form where most of my friends were girls. I did love that atmosphere. But I find it pretty easy to be friends with guys. I hug 'em, talk about periods and fall asleep with my head on their shoulders just the same as I do with girls. If any of them had a girlfriend who was uncomfortable with that - I am very physically affectionate with my friends - I would tone it down a little, but I wouldn't treat them any differently because they were a boy. I don't fancy any of them, after all!

Oh jeez I know how you feel. Most of my friends are guys and I've definitely had to deal with their jealous/controlling girlfriends. It stinks I'm at the point now where I can't hang out with one of my friends unless his gf is with us!
