Hair

I'm bored as usual, been thinking though I need a hair cut (okay I haven't had in cut in a long time, usual I hack off the ends and call it good). It is just straight, really fine and thin and blunt cut right now, no bangs or fringe or what ever you call it. Almost always pulled back in a loose pony tail to keep it out of my face when working with kids, outside or doing one thing or another. Most people just like it down.

Any ideas for styles that would work for fine hair that doesn't hold any shape whats of ever? My face isn't long so some make it look really round, I already have enough problems trying to convince people I really have been out of high school, let alone for three years, if I tell them I'm 20 they think I'm joking. If it helps I can post a picture, although I am the last person to call myself photogenic.

Thanks your welcome to post your own pictures of your hair if you want.

Shoulder-length hair with layers is my personal favorite. Short enough where I don't *have* to put it up when working, but long enough where it can go in a cute pony tale for a different look :)

I was thinking getting it shoulder length, but I always second guess myself and not really good at picturing things in my head. Layers are a no go, unless there in the bottom four inches, because my hair is that thin, it looks almost see through by the ends.

For the length right now it is just level with the bottom of my shoulder blades, my little sister measured it (long story and she's 8 years old) and it was 20 inches long.

I have very long hair and love it! So does my husband - Mine is very straight as well, and I make sure to get the ends trimmed every 8-10 weeks. I've liked long hair as long as I can remember, and I think that with many trends in hair-do's that come and go, when it boils down to it, long hair (kept trimmed and neat) is very appealing on a woman, and never goes out of style. Never! Plus, there are so many cute/fancy ponytail holders out there now, that if a gal's in a hurrry after doing chores in the barn and needs to go somewhere nice, all she needs is a comb and she's set! I also use a leave-in conditioner by Aussie, and keeps my hair shiny and fresh in-between washings and on-the-go. I wear a ponytail at home most of the time, and down when out doing other things. It is flattering to get an occasional compliment from a stranger as well. I guess I'm pushing for you to keep it long, and maybe treat yourself to some new hair shine/pretty accessories to off-set your boredom so you'll have no regrets! :)

You're right Northern Star I get compliments from people all the time when I have my hair down, it is straight but if I don't brush it, just a quick comb it has an interesting wave and curly in the front. People ask how I do that, I say I sleep on it and forget to comb it before I left the house. Maybe I'll get it shorted a little to get rid of the worst of the ends? Who knows I am terrible at deciding, that's why I've had it the same for a while after I had to get rid of my bangs when I was younger.

Good idea on getting those ends taken care of - many years ago I was reluctant to part with any length, and let my ends get too wispy, which, even though the very bottom was trimmed neatly, a good 4 inches or so was needing it as well. I had no choice but to get all the wispy inches trimmed, and my hair has never looked better and healthier! Now all I have to do is get a tiny amount trimmed to keep it that way. I also use a clear 'serum' made by Fructis on the ends after every washing, and a drop on the palms of my hands spread on the rest of my hair makes it shine like gold. Good luck! :)

If you're bored with your hair you could get some lo or highlights, find a new way to braid it, or if you're as brave as me cut it all off to where you have barely anything.

I loooove short hair, though many liked my long hair.

Do what's best for you, or what feels good.

Dont be hacking your hair off! Do what Sky above recomends, it sounds good. My girlfriend dyed the back underside of her hair purple and it looks wonderful! She's blonde too and it goes really well.

Thanks everyone my hair is really dark brown, in the winter looks almost black (but don't call it black) it lightens a lot in the summer. If I did what I like you would never get me into the door for a hairdresser or whatever, I can't stand paying $20 for it to be trimmed. I think something like getting it cut just below my shoulders and changing from being bunt to something else so it doesn't look so bad. I do need in shortened a great deal sadly because the ends have seen better days.
