The song was originally sung in that faster beat. It was when the marching bands began play Amazing Graze they slowed it down. Years ago at the Toronto Royal horse show it was opened with a huge pipe and drum band in the scottish highland garb. As they came into the blackened and spotlighted arena they presented a magnificent picture and the sound echod throughout. They marched in perfect unison, with their bodies swinging side to side. Altho I watched it only on tv, there were goosebumps running up and down my arms. It was truly impressive.
