Has anyone made their own greek yogurt?

I looooooooove greek yogurt. Crave it! Can it as meals with fruit! However, it's pricey. I've found some recipes online for making it myself, but I don't know how successful the recipes are.

Has anyone done it? I want to just eat more yogurt without spending gobs of money doing so.

I haven't made the Greek style yogurt, but I do make regular yogurt. You could make regular yogurt, then strain out all extra moisture and it would be very thick and Greek style.
It's generally called yogurt cheese when you do this, but is almost the same thing.
Amazon or other places sell nice little electric yogurt makers (althought you don't have to have one) that work great! And it's actually very easy to do.
I have made yogurt from regular milk, goat milk, and soy milk. (Soy is more difficult.)

If you already have the info you need, thengo for it! There are some great online resources out there.
(Or PM me if you want... I have great home dairy books and call pull a recipe if you need.)

Greek yogurt also has a higher fat content than regular yogurt (or at least it does in it's traditional form). I am a yogurt fiend (Greek is my favourite), and make mine in a crock pot. Ovens and (of course) yogurt makers also work well! Good luck, and I hope you end up with some tasty, tasty stuff!
