Anyone else hate their jobs but love the people they work with?
I flag for utility roadwork (mainly gas, but water, sewage, powerlines, etc) and while I absolutely hate standing in one spot and not actually DOING something, I love the crews I work for aside from a couple few.
I get hollered at for talking to my crews most times my supervisor comes out, but I'm always specifically requested back to many of the jobs. The crew I'm working for now talks to me like I'm on their crew, joke around, etc. The foreman today just told me he was going to kick his operator off the excavator and throw me on it to dig for him, lol. That already made my day, lol. I know how to run an excavator and I can dig a nice, clean hole in the time it takes most of these operators to dig a messy hole that makes clean-up harder at the end of the day. I just have to get into one of the contracting companies, lol. I was told one foreman/owner of a different crew won't hire a female operator because "if they rip out a main or service line the whole company is done". Which, sexist, but okay, just gives me someone else to prove wrong :p
Anywho..I get to stay on this job with this crew for a good while and I'm glad.(: I am glad their newest operator went to a different job though, all he did was complain about how he's overqualified, lmao. Honestly, I'm overqualified for my flagging job, but I'm not complaining, I'm just trying to get a job I'm qualified for, yet not overqualified.
But..anyone else have any stories about disliked jobs but lovely people to work with :p
