Exclamation Help! Need track/running soreness advice asap

Okay so I joined our girls' middle school track this spring because I'm really fast and think it would be fun. It started yesterday, and after running a total of 3 miles (about a mile up and down stairs, jogging around the track, consecutive 50- and 100- meter sprints, and etc. We didn't have it today because of early release. So it gave my legs a chance to rest lol. I don't run regularly, though I'm very in shape, doing all the work for my 4 horses by myself...and I'm VERY sore from running that much yesterday. However, I'm excited that I stayed in front of the pack the whole time:). But my legs are killing me right now and I can barely walk normal let alone run another 3 miles up and down stairs tomorrow afternoon.....any suggestions for letting my legs get better overnight so I'll be okay for tomorrow? Or will they be okay after two days on their own? LOL I feel like a wimp haha but any suggestions?

Oh well, you should have seen me when I had a summerjob at a strawberry patch few years ago. After two days I had crouched there 7 hours per day I could barely sit or then stand up after sitting. Oh, and I walked like a miserable, old granny .

I guess it's just because of sudden exertions you did. Let you legs rest a bit and warm up & take it more calm next time. I think it'll be okay after few days but if you want you can massage your sore muscles lightly. I don't know if it really helps but that's what I sometimes do if I've made myself sore .

First, stretch before and after practice! Stretch in between your exercises and during breaks. Also, don't sit down during practice after hard exercise. Walk until your heart returns to normal, just you would a horse. It'll keep your muscles from freezing up. Warm up and cool down slowly. Once you get home, take some Motrin. It does miracles. Take a warm bath and massage your legs.

I do track as well (discus thrower, primarily). I feel your pain. This time of year is tough, but it'll get easier once you get stronger. You use different muscles for riding then you do track running.

I think I found the source of the pain....and it's not just a burn, it's a pain....not normal. But I had to wear flat Converse wednesday instead of running shoes, so you can see how that would cause after affects lol. Today I made sure to wear running shoes and I actually couldn't feel any of the pain when I was on the squishy track! It still hurts off the track though. I took a long bath....massaged my legs....rubbed Horse linament oil on my legs, which is what people put on racehorses' legs so they don't burn out or something but that people use on themselves for soreness as change unless it's gotten worse. Is it possible I pulled something?
