I've been in and out of the horse community a lot over the past year and a half. I think I really stopped riding consistently when my eventer retired? But I blame having a young horse that needed regular breaks for that, at least up until about a year ago when I badly damaged my knee.
About six months ago I started coming back to riding, and to training, but my knee didn't cope too well with it, so I've given it a nice long break and now I'm getting back into it.
Financially speaking, I'm a lot better off than I was a year ago when I sold my young mare, but I'm still some $3000 under, so I'm horseless until that's out of the way - and in the meantime, I'm riding everything I can. Anything that I'm allowed to!
I'm hoping that by this time next year I'll be fit enough and in a good enough position financially to take on a young horse again. I really want a TB to start from scratch but I'll have to be very lucky to get one at the age I want that isn't broke already, because I want a horse around 4 to 5 so it can progress at its own pace instead of being held back by age.
It's so good to be back!
