A historic Day for Gay couples

IN Washington state we recently voted to make same sex marriage legal. I had no idea what a BIG deal this is to many folks. My brother is gay and was in a long term relationship (though not now), but he really sees this as being granted the same respect and legitimacy and civil rights, as, say, granting the vote to women. It's a big deal to him and many of his friends.

If you look at the faces of these men and women getting their marriage liscences at City Hall a few days ago, you can see the joy and committment in their eyes. Tomorrow I will join my brother down at City Hall to cheer on the many who will be there to participate in a mass wedding of , I think, 140 couples. It will be a historic, and no doubt, emotional day.

Wooh go Washington!

This is one of the basic equal rights things that the Western world is sadly slow to put into place.

Get up, get going, seize the day. Enjoy the sunshine, the rain, cloudy days, snowstorms, and thunder. Getting on your horse is always worth the effort.

Ok we went and cheered on the firse dozen or so of the 140 couples to come out after being wed at the City Hall. They were announced at the top of the stairs and came down a long flight outside, with people lining each side cheering a clapping and handing them flowers. It was really quite adorable. I even got interviewed by the TV newman, though I doubt I'll make the evening news.

Was very fun to be part of the day, which went on all day, even in the rain and cold. I guess there is a big party tonigh at the Paramount theater.
anyway, you could see the love in their faces.
