    HOAs/POAs

Why do Home/Property Owners Associations seem to attract psychotic control freaks ...

I don't know whether to scream or puke .. maybe both!

    Experiences??

We used to have our mares at our "town" property where they built a suburban subdivision 1/4 mile away. The roads were public (not gated) but there was a HOA. I always road through the neighbor to get to the fields. One day a HOA board member got in his car, chased after me through the neighborhood, pulled in front of me, got out, and started screaming that I was an arrogant sob for riding through his neighborhood. To make a long story short, I had to call the sheriff to come and tell him that since it was a public road there was nothing that he could do about it.
    Jerks.

We are pretty far out, but happen to be in a platted 5-10 acre subdivision. They act like we are in town .. freaks.

My biggest gripe is that they feel like they have the right to come up on your property any time they like.

I just told DH we need a dogproof perimeter fence and two really big mean dogs.. "Sure, come on up anytime you like" ...

Yeah, I don't think people start out that way, but when you live in a subdivision like sardines crammed in a can I think people get a bit wacky. I could never live in a subdivision anyway, because I pee in the yard...the HOA probably wouldn't like that...

When the Rural Newspaper informed me "there's the middle of nowhere and then there's YOU" as to why they were refusing delivery.... I just smiled.

I like my peace, quiet and lack of visible neighbors.
