Sadly, this is pretty standard and legal in all the HOA agreements that I've seen down here (which is one reason I would never buy a property with an HOA or restrictive covenants). When buying a property with these type of deed restrictions, you give up the power to decide how 'your' property is used.

    Me, too.
We're the only house (no address sign) on a private road (no street sign). Besides friends, family, the postman, and the regular UPS and Fedex drivers, the only people we see are ones that are lost.
It got so bad with temporary UPS drivers marking packages 'no such address' that the local UPS distribution center has a note with our address that says "Good address! It is a private, gravel rd directly across from ..... off of ..... Goes through a cornfield. Only house on road."

PHM ... sadly, HOA is more powerful than the constitution but:

    Just because you CAN
    Doesn't mean you SHOULD

I'm just amazed at how a little power can so easily corrupt the soul.

Faceman, DH pees in the yard too. We have 5 acres and left a barrier of heavy woods around the perimeter. I think that's what ticks them off .. they can't see what we're doing back here ...

This made me laugh Face. My hubby does the same, but he stands on our second story deck and aims for the firepit in the yard. My nephews think it's pretty fun too

My mom has a male and a female, and the male is absolutely vicious. I've been begging her to let me put a bullet through him for ages, but she insists they're her "friends"....You can have them if you like!!

Agreed. I've seen the same type of behavior from elementary school PTA/PTO groups and local volunteer organizations.

When I was in college, I rented a condo w some others. And, that is the exact description I would have used to describe the "HOA" commando in chief there, OP..."psychotic control freak". Wow, it must be like, "if you build them, they will come!". The "confrontations" were to numerous to list!!!

As a result of that experience, one criterian I have always had for purchasing a home anywhere is - it has nothing that even remotely resembles an HOA "attatched" to the deed. I have always lived far out of town, yet I still have always verified there was "no HOA" - before making an offer.

Sadly, we built our dream house on this piece of property just a little over 2 years ago and are now considering selling.

DH is on the board but he is only one voice. Others in the neighborhood aren't excited about getting involved again.

Last meeting, they were discussing the use of binoculars to gain intelligence on homeowners activities in an effort to catch someone breaking a deed restriction *rolls eyes* Really? What adult thinks that is an appropriate way to treat your neighbors?

I've seen plenty of crazy HOAs, but all I have to say is.... 'Wow'! I truly feel for you.
