Question Homeopathy

Has anyone here tried homeopathy?

ie: For themselves or knows someone that has used/is using homeopathy? For what illness or disorder? (humans not horses)

What are your views on it? Do you agree with it? If so, why?

If you think there is no place for it? Why?

I would like to hear mixed views, thanks.

Used for me and the horse :)
I use Rhux Tox if my shoulder is sore, and it truly makes a difference, arnica if I'm about to get a big bruise- but thats my only experience!

Do Bachs flower remedies count? Rescue remedy helped me with hacking out and exam nerves if so!

I used nux vomica and rhux tox and my old man during winter time to help with any stiffness- worked a treat!

snake oil, smoke and mirrors. Has never been shown to do anything better than a placebo and is some cases it is worse.
Using a chemical that causes the symptoms, then diluting it to the point of nothingness, results in ? wait for it , wait for it, nothingness.

Homeopathy is used to treat certain, but not all, conditions in European and Latin American countries, maybe others. In the U.S. the AMA and pharmaceutical industry ensure that homeopathic medicine stays in the witch doctor category. The remedies are fairly inexpensive. Unfortunately, there are fake "homeopathic" remedies available here in the U.S. from quacks, which further damages the reputation of homeopathy.
When I was in my late 20's a woman who had traveled to Mexico to get homeopathic medicine for her sick husband let me try a remedy for depression. It worked.
I would travel for homeopathic medicine as a last resort if traditional medicine wasn't working. Fortunately, I am very mentally and physically healthy and hope to remain that way!

My grandma makes cough syrup with rosehips, works a lot better than otc stuff. I did see an herbologist on vacation once when I was battling kidney stones (perfect timing for vaca) and she gave me a bag of stuff to brew into a tea, smelled like alfalfa to me but whatever it was helped me pass them the next day. I'd been following dr's orders & rx stuff for 7 weeks prior to that. That's the extent of my home remedy knowledge. I think there is some validity to it but I don't know enough about it to trust or try too much.

Life is like a camera. Focus on what's important, Capture the good times, Develop from the negatives and if things don't work out, Take another shot.

That isnt homeopathy, thats using chemicals found in nature for treatments, and isnt much different than traditional medicine. Most medicines start out as naturally occurring substances that have been found to treat various conditions. Various plants and minerals have been treating us for ever. For instance Rose hips contain Vitamin C and quite a bit of anti inflammatory. So basically your grand mother was giving you home made motrin. SO probably works well for colds and flu like aches and pains.
Homeopathy is taking a substance that actually causes the ailment in question, then diluting it to almost nothing and calling it a treatment. It was a theory of "Let like treat Like". And has never stood up to any type of scientific scrutiny.

Just did some reading, thanks Joe. Feeling a bit blonde at the moment.

So wouldn't basically every vaccine (ie: flu shots) be homeopathy then? Hmm...

Excellent analogy! Vaccines work at a cellular level, whereas the homeophathic remedies supposedly work on a more essential, um, searching for the correct term ... "energy level" sounds very hocus-pocus, but do you understand what I mean?
I have a classic textbook at home on homeopathy. If you all are intersted I can quote a more precise description later tonight. I am certainly not an expert!

Interesting. Does sound pretty hocus-pocus. I'd be curious to hear what the textbook says.

actually vacines are different. WHile getting into "Like Treats Like" Vaccines dont treat anything. They prevent a future disease.
Homeopathy is supposedly treating something current.
Actually it isnt really the chemical doing the treatment. It is diluted to the point of almost non present. The "Spirit" soul, or energy of the chemical is imprinted on the carrier. This energy mirror image is remembered by the water (evidently water remembers things, who knew )used to dilute the compound and (seriously I'm not making this up) this mirror image when ingested cancels out the affliction.
This is starting to sound like a South Park episode on scientology.
Now I know man doesnt know everything. We will constantly come up with new procedures but this one has never been shown to do anything in any kinda of trial or study.
