I personally want some books about a good ol cowhorse. Theres all kinds of books about racing and eventing and all the "big" events but never about a good little ranch horse haha

JILLY COOPER!! Everytime! All the books link and are centred around the same people community. But some are particularly horse-themed, Riders, Polo, Jump are the horsiest themed ones.

I just read Kentucky Derby Dreams by Susan Nussar. I thought it was pretty good. Not ab out a good o'le cowhorse, but it takes you through a breeding farm from foal to 2 yos and thought it was pretty interesting.

Hmm...I'll have to check out these new ones now too.

If I can ever get the motivation to start and actually finish something, I'm going to try and write something about horses. I just need it to not sound stupid which is my problem lately. I've been so blocked.

Mary Stanton has a two book series called The Heavenly Horse from the Outermost West" and "Piper at the Gate. The novels are the story of the desperate struggle for survival of the sacred Appaloosa breed of horses against impossible odds. It is in the sci-fi section. I love it

Roperchick, have you read an old book called "Smokey, the Cow Horse by Will James.

Another good "old" book is "A Girl and Five Brave Horses", the true story of a young girl from SC that dove horses off a 40 foot tower into a tank or pool of water. I so loved the book I searched until I found a hard copy. Disney did the movie Wild Hearts can't Be Broken, good but not near as good as the book

Stallions are from Mars; Mares are from Venus; but Geldings, well, they are from heaven !!
