OP, you say you're new to the company? They probably have a roster with people's birthdays on it, and you didn't make it on this year because you're new.

It's very nice that you're thoughtful and think of others, but many people aren't like that. Some may have also felt weird, because they don't really know you yet.

I'm sorry your feelings were hurt. I hope next year the people at your company remember and do something nice for you.

Happy belated. Here's a cake for you.

I am sorry you are disappointed.

I personally think expecting others to make a big deal is some what .... well...childish.

I would think you do nice things for them on their birthdays because you want to do something nice. Not because you are expecting something in return for it.

You are the type that remembers special days. Most of the rest of the world is not that type. Do not look down on them for not remembering. Even you say that when they realized it was your birthday they did say happy birthday.

Yes. It's not for someone else when you are truly doing it for yourself.

I guess I view work as well - work. I come in and do my job. I do not take coffee breaks and the only time I go to lunch is if I have an errand. I would rather do my office job so I can get home to my barn.

Every day we are alive is a celebration. Life can be cut short in an instant. Enjoy and don't look back.

The point was that others were recognized and I was not - so it's not so much that I expected to be recognized for it, I give other peoples cards and do special things because it's just the type of person I am - acknowledged or not. I suppose it was just a bit more awkward as I had seen other people be recognized more then me, which doesn't seem fair (yes I know, no one said life was fair) - this includes everything from having little brunches in celebration to a few cards left on that persons desk.

Just felt a bit left out. It's good to know that this wouldn't have phased you - guess I'm just not like that.

To everyone else, you've all been so lovely. I guess it was just a bit of a rant as like I said it's been one hell of a year so far.

Sorry - you post on a public forum, you are going to get many different opinions. We ALL have problems. Not getting a few cards that are destined for the recycle bin is a fairly small problem compared to many others on here.

As I said before - enjoy life and don't look back.

Yep, not going to disagree at all that this is a small issue.
