I've had sleep problems on and off for years for various reasons. One piece of good advice that I've gotten is only use your bed for sleep. Don't read in bed, don't study in bed, don't sit in bed and watch TV. And if you've been lying in bed for more than a half hour and haven't fallen asleep, don't continue to lie there. Your body needs to associate bed with sleep and if you are doing all these other things in bed, that association gets messed up.
