Unhappy I feel like a traitor.

I just took my uniform off for the last time and even though I know that leaving is what is best for my future, I can't help but feel like I am abandoning and turning my back on my co-workers. I have known some of these people for almost 6 years and made some very good friends out there. I'm going to miss them. :,,(

Changing occupations can be a tough decision but you
Have made the switch to what you believe is the better
    Road for your future.

I have done work from being a gas station attendent
    To deputy sheriff.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

    Yearling
    Right

You HAVE worn a uniform for almost 6 years - you should never feel like a traitor when you have served your country, in any capacity.

Against the hundreds of millions who haven't served and never will serve their country, you, and those like you, should feel proud to have done what you have.

Of course it's hard to end some chapter of your life and go ahead...

You're still doing what do you feel best for yourself. Sometimes it means hard decisions but I bet it'll finally be worth of it. I'm also sure that your co-workers are glad for you and the fact that you decided to take this step, instead of thinking you're a traitor.

Go, girl go! Make your dreams come true .

You'll feel better about it when you realize you don't need to punch a time clock and you get to work at something you love. When you walk outside in the morning and saddle the first horse of the day I bet you won't wish for much else.

Aside from the friends you leave behind, it is fear of the unknown. You basically knew what each day would bring and that there was a paycheck at the end of the month. Now, each day is a new adventure with no real idea when and how much you will be paid for your efforts, skill, and knowledge.

I've been there several times and it never gets easier but it is pretty **** exciting.

You'll do great, Jen. I've followed your posts and I think you have what it takes to be a great trainer.

    Good luck.

Oh man do I hear you. I just learned that I will not be able to put mine on ever again either(or at least not THAT one).

Stay happy, you had a great chapter in your life, learned and experienced some things that made you who you are, now it's time to turn this old chapter over and start up a fresh new one. It's one of those bitter sweet moments.

Starting something new will be really exciting and fresh, you'll see it once you start it up.

Thanks you guys. Iride, you're right, I am scared to death. I have never liked change very much but this is really big. I guess that I shouldn't feel too terrible because there are some of my closer friends that I am going to keep seeing. We usually go bowling or play pool at least 2 times a month and I will just have to take some time and come down here. Most of them are happy for me and have told me that they are glad I am getting out while I am still young, before I got trapped like some of them are; being too old to start a new career but not old enough to retire yet.
