I see it two ways....You have a couple choices, one is to use it the way she meant for you to, which is on something you love such as the tack trunk and the other is to pay bills off with it....

Paying the bills off is smart but... if you don't buy the tack trunk with it, you will probably never get a tack trunk.......

I think putting a nice plaque on the trunk is a great idea!
Was there a saying your aunt always said? Or a quote that reminds you of her?
It would be lovely to have it engraved.

Great idea, Sunny.

It sounds like a tack trunk is just what your Aunt was thinking when she left her nieces and nephews money.

Something that you will enjoy. Add a nice engraved plate like Sunny suggested and you will have a great reminder of just how much your Aunt loved you and how she wanted you to be happy.

I want to put a memento to her on it, but honestly I think that would be too emotional for me. She was extremely close to me and I get a little teary when I think about her. Thank you for help everyone.

@Spyder: I'll take my tack trunk, thanks.

Do what you think is right. If you'd like a tack trunk, it's your money, no ones there to say you can't buy what you want with it!

If you want a stable friendship, get a horse.

I think you aunt would be happy to hear you spent the money on something you really want. That was a gift from her to you, there is nothing wrong to spend them on tack box.

Actually, my dad, (her brother) kind of wants me to save the money. My mom thinks I should do what I want with it. Hmmmmmm... well, I'm fairly sure I'm spending it on that trunk with a momento to her. I think he will like that.

You can buy yourself a tack trunk and the money that is left over you can put into the bank and save.
That will be a nice balance of both sides.
