I'M Back!!!!

So I just got back home after the longer weekend. Boy was I busy!!!

I drove up Wed. Night (its only like 130 mile drive), I got up there about 9pm and my brother had me go with him out to my dads farm. He just got a different tractor so I had to check that out but he didnt want us to drive it since it was dark out.. Him and my brother also just bought a 7x10 ice fish house so I wanted to see that as well... we went back to my moms and started watching a movie but I couldnt stay awake.

Thursday- We went to one of the local churches for Thanksgiving dinner. With my aunt suddenly having to go to the nursing home and other things no one was abkle to prepare a dinner. After that we went to the nursing home to visit my Aunty and my Grandpa... My aunty was kinnda confused and starting randomly talking about stuff that happened many years ago (or not at all...lol) After that my brother and I went to my moms (she rents a house on a lake) and we went out to check the ice... it was 2 inches, not quite enough for fishing but one of the area lakes had 3 inches, so we went out to my dads to get the my portable fish house and other things. We also took the tractor out for a spin.... it was fun to drive. Back to my moms to get ready for bed.

Friday- So I said that I hated black friday and I didnt want to shop it... well I found myself outside fleet farm at 5:15 to get a really good deal on Carhartts. My brother had to work at 6:15 at fleet farm, he wasnt too thrilled. I got my items that I wanted but then I was dragged to wal-mart and then to bath and body works, I got back to my moms around 9 and then took a nap. My brother called at 11:30 (he was off from work), had to get going for ice fishing. The lake didnt have any snow coverage on it so it made it kinnda tough to haul my portable out. We got everything set up and I was kicking some ice at my brother when I biffed it,i have a good bruise on my behind...lol. My brother in-law came out a little later, we stayed on the lake till 10:30pm, caught some nice crappies and I pulled up a 17 inch walleye, great meal!!! It was soo nice out, about 28 degrees and no wind. I went home and showered and passes out.

Sat- The morning arrived way too fast. I was out at my dads by 9 am to go Pheasent hunting. My boyfriend came out with some of his uncles and his dad. We walked for over 3 hours, some of the walking was tough with the brush and used to be water turned to ice. Me being soo graceful I hit my knees a few times...lol ya im a klutz. We were able to knock down 5 birds total. My dad and I took three of the birds (the others didnt want any). I helped my dad clean the birds, but since he already had some in the freezer I took them to my moms. I cooked them up for supper, yummy with rice and veggies.

Today- I went to church with my bf and his family... his 6 month old niece was dedicated to the church... we did a little shopping and then headed out to see my horse. 5 days is a long time to go without seeing my girl!!!! I did some cleaning in the barn and did chores. Now we are back home watching the Vikings/Bears football game.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend!!!! Sorry for my novel

It might have been a very busy time, but you sound like you
Thoroughly enjoyed it. Glad you had so much fun.

Wow! Your days sure were packed! Did you get Carhartt coveralls? I love mine! If you have any good pheasant recipes I'd love for you to share them with me. We've got three in the freezer yet.

I got a jacket and bibs... they are great!!! I had been using columbia bibs and jacket for outdoor stuff but it just wasnt warm enough, so im hoping I wont have to layer as much.

I don't usually cook very good (well I try...lol). But growing up my sister wouldnt eat phesant and now I finally got her to!!! I will fully clean the birds (check for the shot, feathers, etc...) I like to cook two at a time, just because there isnt tons of meat on them. I will place the unthawed bird in a oven safe pot. (or roaster) and I will always place breast first (keeps the meat moist while cooking) and then I will use the minute rice, cream of chicken, and whatever veggies I have around. Then I will throw enough water in the cover or almost cover the bird/s. Mix up what I can and then throw a cover or tin foil over the pot and throw it in the over at 375 F. It will usually take a hour to hour and a half to fully cook. About halfway through I will take the pot out of the oven and stir things up. When finished the rice should be done but I tend to have a little extra water in the pan so I will just use a slotted spoon to get my rice and veggies out.

It is basically a pot roast but with phesant...the key is to keep it moist. I have also cooked them in the over bags, placed in a brin over night (like with turkey) and then thrown some celary and onion with it while cooking... that was really good as well.

Hope you can enjoy your birds and if you have any other ways to cook it then feel free to pass it on!!! Thanks
