It is just hard

I lost my best friend today, my gelding. I had him since he was a yearling. He was retired on family pasture. He did not suffer, for this I am thankful. I recently purchased tickets to go visit him in the fall - I never thought I wouldn't see him again. I can't believe I didn't get to say goodbye after all we have been through together. He was just as human to me as most any I know.

Anyway, I won't be posting again until I can somehow accept all of this. It seems one phone call can put your entire world out of balance.

I wish everyone happiness. If there is someone important to you that you need to visit, go visit them as soon as you can.

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

Sorry, Missy, for your loss. I cannot imagine how hard that must be. Would you like to post some pictures of him in horse memorials?
Thank you for sharing and I hope you will find the balance to come back soon.

I agree with you Missy that you should not postpone a visit to someone that is important to you. To live is to accept the deaths of those that must pass before us. I am very sorry for your loss.

Missy, my deepest, most heartfelt condolences. Losing them is always hard, but not being able to see them one last time has to make it worse.

I understand, and when you're ready to talk we're here.

Godspeed, good horse.
