I bought some organic coconut oil from the health food store and use that as my moisturizer. Its got loads of extra benefits and is a natural SPF. as for a foundation I love MAC studio FX. Its a powder that goes on great and smooth and light, lasts all day and makes my skin feel so soft! Its a bit more pricey, $30 a thing, but it lasts a long time. I use makeup almost every day and it will last me 6+ months.
All you can do is try some stuff and see what you like! Best of luck!

I didn't start wearing makeup until I was about 54. And then only because one of my kids had had pretty bad acne as a teen and we finally found a department store brand that helped her immensely. Prescriptions and specialty products - all failed.

The lady that helped her joked/teased me into trying just a couple things and I like the results. Their moisturizers were much better than what I had been using.

A lot of my friends have gone to the cosmetic counters at department stores to at least get started. The initial cost is expensive, IMO, but the products last really long and it at least gives you some ideas on the how to's of makeup. I definitely needed help with the how to's! I had no skills to pass on to my kids.

I imagine the sun isn't severe in alberta, but still - if I were you I would investigate the claim that coconut oil acts as a sunscreen, and to what degree. It is an oil, regardless of how it is or isn't pressed, hence it will refract light to some degree - not block it to any real degree.
smrobs likes this.

There is just as much horse sense as ever, but the horses have most of it.

I have been wearing it all summer and haven't had any issues with sunburn. But I appreciate your input

I wear Revlons 24 hour liquid foundation for oily skin. It works nice, looks natural as long as you don't overdue it, and lasts all day without running anywhere.
It's alot to do with experimenting. I've had foundations that irritated my skin and made me to itchy before or would cake up in my creases.
Even if you don't buy the makeup, going to a Mary Kay party or having it done at a store can give you ideas.
