letter from a slave to his former master

My brother forwarded this link to me. This website posts all kinds of actual lettters that people wrote to each other. They form a fascinating link to the past, one which I fear will not continue in such abundance due to the use of the , oh so perishable, digital communications.

Fascinating!

So in lies the madness, the pursuit of the impossible in the face of the complete assurance that you will fail, and yet still you chase.

Just amazing. I had a large smile reading it, and yet still felt sorrow for the treatment/pain experienced. Very clever to figure not only the "back pay" but he interest owed too!

Thanks for posting, I enjoyed it immensely.

Great post. I hope we never forget how humans can be so inhuman to each other.

Dehumanization - What happens when you start treating people as if they are lower than yourself. In your mind, they will became inhuman. We saw this with not only slavery, but also with the native americans and with the nazis in WWII. It's truly sad to see how horrible the world actually is.

And continue to experience without learning from the past.

On a side note, I told Don the other night that I hope the native americans take over this country again via the casinos/ money! Serve us right! And would be better than China owning us!

I thought it was amazing how he goes along saying he "might" consider coming back and then hits the old guy with the clinker, figuring how much back pay he is owed, with interest! That is very statesmanlike.
