I've also raised my own bacon. And it was fed high quality show feed as he was a show pig for FFA. He didn't make auction, so we sent him to slaughter. Man, did he make the best breakfast sausage and bacon I loved him, but that's what he was raised for. And you're right, there really is nothing like homegrown bacon.

I buy from a local farmer with Duroc/Berkshire crosses. His bacon & sausage are the best. Makes that junk in the grocery seem just like what it is....junk!
