MD governor signs a bill for tuition for illegal immigrants

I rarely post about politics and usually try to stay away, but I run into this one today and I'm just very upset...

MD state is in debt, people are sitting on furloughs already for the 3rd year, resources in MD Universities System are cut on everything, they are talking about raising the tuition for LEGAL students to make up the revenue... And now citizens and legal out-of-state students have to pay for ILLEGALS! I’m just completely speechless....

I hear ya! I don't like getting into politics either but as a college student, I truly hate what this country and my state of California are doing to the school systems. I truly fear we're only going to fall farther and farther behind and really prove our idocracy to the rest of the world.

On top of massive college budget cuts and tuition hikes, California, among other things, wants to cut elementary-high school school years by one day each week! If not just lop a week or two off at the end.

If you encourage illegal immigration, you'll get more of it. If all our states were in the black, college costs under control and the Federal government was running surpluses, it wouldn't bother me much. If there was a flat rate for all students, I could understand it. But when you give someone here illegally preferential treatment to those here legally (out-of-state students and international students), then what is the point?

Why not just remove all laws about immigration, if you will not enforce any?

I'm usually very liberal with my views of immigration but this is just absurd.

I'm with you kitten_Val, I try to stay out of politics myself. I can't help but wonder what would happen if we had some common sense every day working folks making some decisions...oh wait, isn't that supposed to be what a democracy is?

I'm fairly liberal but I definitely agree that this one is way the **** in left park.
