Talking Meet Glib! *Warning rat pictures*

Feel free to pass this novel up and skip to the pictures

He's a large hooded rat I've been told. Last year my large rat Peaches died and I miss her. She was adorable and sweet. A light tan/peach color with a light sandy colored dorsal stripe. She would chill on my shoulder and talk (squeak and chirp) in my ear. Ratties don't live that long compared to some other pets so I was more prepared for her passing than I would have been if say one of my dogs were to die at 2 years old. Still though I decided recently I wanted a rat again but only a large one.

So I looked off and on not really thinking of purchasing but I was open to meeting a few ratties, problem was I couldn't find anything larger than medium and I wanted large. Yesterday I was in the petstore getting dog treats and wandered my way over to the mice and hamsters. I looked a little at the rats and almost missed him! He was at the end of the line of enclosures and I didn't think anything was in there until he unburied himself. The lady at the counter said he was put on hold 2 weeks ago but she hadn't heard anything and they didn't put money down on him so she'd be happy to pack him up for me. I brought him home, showed my boyfriend who then hogged him from me for a good 30 minutes while I made up his enclosure. He likes to talk like Peaches did so I looked up synonyms for the word Talkative and the word Glib showed up. Never heard of it before but I liked the sound of it. Anyways...sorry for the novel, meet Glib. We might be getting another one too but not in with him, not sure how friendly he is with others.

He's cute!
My rat Remi was he runt of the litter, so she wasn'r supposed to get too big... but I don't know. Looking at her today, her adult size is much larger than I anticipated! Her dad was huge though. I mean like, nose to dock, 12 inches. HUGE.

Do you have any pictures that show how big Glib is?

He's about 6-7 inches long I think. Not as big as peaches, she was easily 9 in her body but I can't seem to find any rats that big. I'll be taking more pictures later on and get some of a size comparison to something if I can figure it out. Hmmm.

He's very cute, but I think he needs a rattie buddy. Rats don't do well alone.

I had 4 rat girls. They were lovely creatures and so much fun to have around.

It's just sad they only live about 24 months.

^ I also second getting him a friend. Rats can get depressed alone and generally are just much happier and healthier (mentally) with another rat companion.

And I agree Speed Racer. The only part about owning rats that I hate is how short their lives are. Though my last one reached 3 years before he finally went downhill and passed away.
