Might not be around much (graphic pic warning).....
A weekago I was in a head on collision with a semi truck.
After two hours of prying the car apart with the jaws of life I was rushed to the ER where I had surgery done on a broken femur, hip, and arm. Start pysio tomorrow and I know it is going to be a long process, and so I'm sure my time online will be limited, and I imagine my herd will need to be thinned down considerably, as recovery could take up to two years..
I remember after tthe intial hit of jerking away but the car was snagged by then. It peeled away, but was being ripped open like a can. When I stopped in the ditch there was no driver side door on, and had I not been wearing my seatbelt it is likely I would have ended up being dragged by the car.
The EMT's and RN's have all been great, and my family a huge support - really big thank you to my mom and little sister, Tiffanny (FGRanch) and her awesome boys. You guys mean so much.
Recovery so far has been really up and down - okay days and really bad days. Because I broke my leg, hip, and arm on my left side, there is not much I can do on my own. It's been a very humbling experiance having to need someone to help you out of bed, go to the washroom, cut up a meal to eat, shower (although I am only allowed sponge baths right now) to getting dressed. Alot of things I took for granted previously.
I had my first physio treatment today and although I was not completely impressed with myself, the PT was. We are able to get me into a wheelchair and out of my bed, if only for 15 minutes before my hip says enough. Progress made, if not slowly. It is still a long road ahead yet.
At least you're alive!!! Just keep reminding yourself on bad days, that you're still around to have them;). A friends dad did the same (pushing past the being tired), he didn't get as lucky. Wishing you the best, and sending happy thoughts to you (((hugs)))). -Meg Posted via Mobile Device
Holy **** girl! O.O You are SO lucky to be alive! No one ever wins in head on collisions...Especially not with semis...I'm SO glad you are alive and going to be alright eventually. I wish I could help you with your horses....:( Get better soon! -hugs-
Steff, you are one LUCKY girl... that you're around to make a post at all, that you're alive to feel what pain must be excruciating.. as well as having such great family and friends. I'm so so so thankful that you will (more or less) recover from this.
Please, let me know anytime if there's anything I can do for you or Tiff. I've texted her the same. I'm not that far away...!!
I wish you a speedy recovery, girl - you're one tough cookie so remember that you don't need to push TOO hard, ok?
Take care, and PLEASE contact me if I can help you out!

OMG...that you came out of that car alive is a miracle!!!
I hope you're getting lots of good drugs and some sleep. It's hard to sleep in the hospital between interruptions for care and pain, but it really is the absolute best thing going.
Wishing you a speedy recovery!
I'm not a complete idiot--there are parts missing!
What you have become is the price you paid to get what you used to want.
