After two hours of prying the car apart with the jaws of life I was rushed to the ER where I had surgery done on a broken femur, hip, and arm. Start pysio tomorrow and I know it is going to be a long process, and so I'm sure my time online will be limited, and I imagine my herd will need to be thinned down considerably, as recovery could take up to two years..
I remember after tthe intial hit of jerking away but the car was snagged by then. It peeled away, but was being ripped open like a can. When I stopped in the ditch there was no driver side door on, and had I not been wearing my seatbelt it is likely I would have ended up being dragged by the car.
The EMT's and RN's have all been great, and my family a huge support - really big thank you to my mom and little sister, Tiffanny (FGRanch) and her awesome boys. You guys mean so much.
Recovery so far has been really up and down - okay days and really bad days. Because I broke my leg, hip, and arm on my left side, there is not much I can do on my own. It's been a very humbling experiance having to need someone to help you out of bed, go to the washroom, cut up a meal to eat, shower (although I am only allowed sponge baths right now) to getting dressed. Alot of things I took for granted previously.
I had my first physio treatment today and although I was not completely impressed with myself, the PT was. We are able to get me into a wheelchair and out of my bed, if only for 15 minutes before my hip says enough. Progress made, if not slowly. It is still a long road ahead yet.
