mohave valley, az?

Ok so many of you guys know my story and my recent struggle to decide what is right in my path. Well with texas looking to be a struggle to get to right now on my own my dads is looking like the next best thing. He lives in mohave valley, az 10 minutes from the river and next door to an ex bull rider/current roper. My dad wants me to live there and has been urging me to move out there for the last year or so.

I went out to visit for christmas and him and his fiance are sooo trying to bribe me. They are offering to let me get a horse there , live there without paying rent/utilities (although id still help out since my dad is going through a lot of surguries due to a work injury) and he'll help me look for a truck. My dad and i have always had a good relationship I'm just nervous to move out there I guess. The few times I've been there (besides the summer trip since it is ridiulously busy there during the summer being so close to the river) it reminds me of the town I'm in now and I'm not so sure I want to move from one go nowhere fast place to another. It'll definitely be awhile of saving before I get a horse if I go out there as well lol.

So I guess my question to you guys is, does anyone have more experience with this area? How do you like it? Is there much riding wise? I see a lot of horses in my dads area but looking online haven't found much in the way of rodeo or barrel races.

Just for fun pictures of the front and backyard at my dads this summer... you'd never know he lives in the middle of the desert.

I know Ridgecrest pretty well, as I lived in Riverside for over 35 years. My DH liked to go to the off-road races in Ridgecrest. I moved to the Kingman area @ the beginning of 2012. Mojave Valley is ( I think) warmer than here, but w/all the tourists year-round ( Laughlin/Las Vegas) area, there should be more job opportunities & there are rodeos in both places. There are plenty of horses around-I bought my newest mare in Mojave Valley in November-it was a 2 hour drive for me. Something to beware of though is the rampant epidemic of illegal drugs & it may take some getting used to to seeing folks walking around w/a gun on their belt. I'm getting used to the state & I love having the acreage & the gas & vehicle registrations are much cheaper! The sales tax is the same or even a little higher. These are tough times & if family is willing to help you get a start in life, why not give it a shot?

Oh believe me ridgecrest is a hot mess with illegal drugs lately. I don't mind guns I fact really want to learn to shoot lol. It is definitely hotter then rc buut seems to have a similar winter although this year we have been really warm and not as windy as usual. I was just concerned with the work/rodeo aspect of it. Kind of like weighing my options I suppose. I'm not familiar with az so I thought I'd ask around first since of course my dad will only tell the good to convince me haha.

For jobs check out and put in the location. It does a pretty good job of scavenging up all the online job ads for an area, that will give you an idea of what's there.

Can't help on the rest as it's not a place I've done more then drive through once.

Sorry, I don't much about that area.

So in lies the madness, the pursuit of the impossible in the face of the complete assurance that you will fail, and yet still you chase.

I know of indeed although I am not a fan since I have ran into a problem that most the general jobs like bigger stores and stuff don't actually have any openings at all. I still look but I've ran into the problem a lot when I was looking here.
