TASK: A Character Monologue
In this task you are to choose a character from a text (cannot be an animal); it may be from a novel, a film, a short story or a poem.
Part A1 minute)
You must analyse the character and explain their importance in the text. Consider:
v Personality
v Relationships
v Interests
Part B: Monologue (2 minutes)
Write a monologue for the character you have chosen. This means that you need to become the character. Speaking in first person you will:
v Introduce yourself
v Give your opinion about an event/scene in the text
· You need to know the text well and have a very good understanding of the character, their feelings and emotions around the event/scene you have chosen. What would they think and say, and how would they behave?
· The character may be angry, unhappy, frightened or extremely happy, about the event/scene on which you will focus.
· Your choice of language in your presentation will reflect the character and their mood and emotions at this time. You are trying to be this character in your presentation.
· To help, you need to think of props, costumes, makeup, or music which may help to portray the mood and emotion of the monologue.
I really want to do it from a movie because i can just watch it rather than spend for ever reading a book lol (im a slow reader) & I am hoping to do it about a horse move lol. Maybe the horse whisper or something like that.
What do you think a good movie...'horse movie' to do it on??
