Need Genetics project ideas (anyone can help!)

So for my genetics class we get to choose to do one or two projects. We can pretty much do whatever we want as long as it's related to genetics in some way.

Some examples are: create an original song and perform it, write a poem, make a sculpture, make a website with genetics information about yourself, and etc. So I have tons of options basically...I just don't know what to do!

At the end of the term the class will vote on the top 10 they like the best and those people don't have to take the final.

So...I would love to hear some ideas that you all may have. It would be cool if it was related to horses but let me hear what you have.

I was tempted to maybe weld a DNA structure. My other idea is creating a small drill team pattern and make it resemble Mitosis haha...then somehow film an aerial view of it. Only problem is I don't know anyone with horses that can help me -sigh-

Would love some help!

What about you talk about the DNA in horses and things like HERDA etc being passed on through the genes to the progeny (genetic), or how the colour of a sire and dam influences the colour of the foal etc :)

I'll ask my wife when she gets home. She's a biology teacher and did grad work in genetics. Stand by...

Thanks! He's looking for more things that are creative and fun and not so term paper/report based.

Lynn suggests doing punnett squares using a family tree (with photos, preferably). Map recessive and dominant traits for each member of the family, such as eye/hair color, etc. From this you can do predictive analysis of what traits may be passed down to the subsequent generation.

Give her a few minutes - she'll think of something else.

You could do like a picture chart pedgiree of your horse/s pedigrees and say how they got their colour and whos conformation he/she got and then go on to explain the dominant features in the horse
