Need gift idea for 17 year old girl

I am super stumped on a Christmas gift for my step sister. She just turned 17. She is not the 17 going on 27 that a lot of girls seem to be. If anything she is 17 going on 15. I love her dearly but its a fact.

She is smart as can be(gpa of 92% currently). She is graduating this year, doing a grad trip to Europe. She is obsessed with Marianas Trench and Glee. She does Production, likes to dance. Loves to read.

I was going to do a Marianas Trench concert DVD and gift card, but it doesn't feel like its enough. I thought about makeup, but I did that last year and she doesn't really wear it anyway. I thought about clothes but she is forever changing her style but always leans towards tom boyish. I thought about something to help with her grad trip but when I asked what she needs she replies "a passport". So no help there.

So I am stumped. I have no sweet clue what to do for her. I was pondering a kobo but I really don't want to spend that much when she more then likely will use it for a bit then forget about it because she has no access to a credit card to buy books.

So I need ideas... help! Lol

What about a gift card for Amazon.com ? I know when I was 17 my moms friend got me a $50 gift card, I was thrilled!

Maybe a bag that hangs off the shoulder, great for traveling and "stylish" for Europe/

Concert tickets maybe? Or gift cards are good too.

Gift cards seem so impersonal.. but I might go that route. Or even get her a prepaid credit card with x amount on it to use for whatever she needs.

Concert tickets are great except no one she would like comes to our neck of the woods. She won prime tickets with backstage passes for Marianas Trench in some contest earlier this year and she had to travel 8 hours to get to the concert lol.

I honestly don't remember what I liked when I was her age, it was so darn long ago *sigh* Gift Cards wouldn't seem tacky?

I never liked gift cards personally unless they are for a store I really liked. I am17 now however I'm easy I love clothes, shoes and horse tack ( when I had a horse to use it on haha). I understand the concert thing nobody comes out here either.

She could use a nice passport necklace for when she travels!
Or photo albums with a cover depicting where she's going, a travel journal, and nice pack?

She is traveling! SO many nice gifts you can get her. Memory cards for her camera, a nice handy carry on, a neck pillow, walking shoes...

Go to the airport. I bet they have cheap parking for short term and I bet you will be able to find awesome gifts for travel in the pre-security gift shop. I know at the gift shop I work at in my local airport, our prices on quality luggage are MUCH better than sears and other similar places.

Our airport has nothing like that. Its a super small airport, as in the only planes that land here are the little propeller planes aka puddle jumpers lol.

The passport necklace is a great idea. I never would have thought about that. This is why I made such a thread. I seriously never would have thought of all the little things that would come in handy for international travel!

Gift card. If you don't know her favorite store you can get VISA or Mastercard one. I know they are not very "personal", but she can get what she really wants.

P.S. I was thinking to suggest concert tickets too... But it depends on where you live.

You could get her the original gift that you were planning and give her a card that says "good for $50 towards your passport."
