im making a slide show/video whatever you want to call it with windows movie maker. I got everything perfectly except i dont know how to get a song onto it. I go into my itunes and pick the song i want and click the button that says import, but everytime it keeps saying "the file does not exist"????? so how do i make a file for the song??
Have you tried changing the format? You can use an online converter like media-convert.com to change it to a different audio format and that might do it. Windows movie maker can be a pain sometimes, i used to use it before I got my mac. Now I just use imovie. You can also try saving it somewhere else besides itunes and importing it from there.
Sorry, I didn't explain enough. Make a copy of the music file in itunes, and put IT somewhere else, then try to import the new music file into WMM from where you now have the song saved. If it's an mp3, it should be able to import...
its an I-pod. How do i make a copy of the music file?? Do i just right mouse click, select cope and paste somewhere??? I looked in my library and its not there. can i save it to my music library??
I did a little googling, and it seems that if the itunes file is a M4P file, it will be protected and WMM will not allow you to import it. This happens if you bought the song from itunes, but not always if you got it elsewhere. If the file is a M4P, you will have to convert it to a mp3 for it to import.
Try copy and paste, or drag and drop the file to your desktop.
i tried that, still not working. Is there anyway i can get the song from my itunes and put it onto my music library? Sorry i am not computer literate at ALL. so youll have to dum it down alot for me lol.
I may be over my head with this one too. Okay, I just went into my itunes player on my mac, and drug (hold mouse button down and drag and drop) a song to my desktop. Once it is there, it should have a file extension on the end. Probably either M4P or mp3. If it's mp3, I have no idea why it isn't working. If it's M4P m4a or another format, go to a site like Zamzar - Free online file conversion and convert it to an mp3 and save it to your computer and try again.
If the song you want is only on your ipod, and not in your computer, there is another way to get it. Go to beemp3 and re-download it. If you can't find it there, go to youtube, find the song, then use this site to rip the audio and save it to your computer. 2conv It will save it as an mp3 and then it should work. These sites are all free, and I've used beemp3 and 2conv dozens of times. They work great.
