Thanks, everyone. This has got to be the worst birthday present ever (I'll be 30 on Wednesday).

Prayers coming your way! My aunt had colon cancer a few years ago. Thankfully she got through it. She's one strong woman (in mind, spirit and body) so I'm pretty sure she bullied the cancer away, as it was in stage 3 when she got diagnosed. I'm praying all goes well and that your mom's cancer leaves for good!

A ride a day keeps the worries away!

Thanks, everyone. I spent half the day yesterday at work crying at random when I would think of something about my mom. Then I had to go to their house after work and let her dog out to go to the bathroom and it got me all depressed again. My mom decorates their house for ever holiday and season and, even though she hasn't been feeling well and has been dealing with all these, she has the house all decorated for Halloween/Thanksgiving/Fall. My boyfriend and I took DD for a walk (she's been a turkey lately and not going to the bathroom outside for me) and I started thinking about if my mom doesn't make it, I'll probably end up getting DD because my dad won't keep her (she's decidedly my mom's dog). Which led to more crying. Then when we got back from the walk, I noticed a card on the counter for me for my birthday. In it was a "coupon" for dinner at Olive Garden for me and my boyfriend with my parents on the date of my choosing...and $45 for taking care of DD...which led to more crying. My poor boyfriend!

You can get a lot further with a ladder than you can with crutches!!

Paige-I had the same cancer back in early '10. At first they said they got it,but just before releasing me from the hospital they said I was a Stage 3C, due to "washings" & findings in the lymph system. I did TONS of research, had the MRI & the CAT scan & nothing else-no chemo or radiation, although they wanted to do it. So, far I've been fine, but every case of cancer is different. I didn't go ahead mainly because they couldn't establish a target, or say for sure there was a spot of the disease anywhere.

If your dear mom has the treatment, there are some lovely wigs available, as it's pretty sure the hair will be gone. Prayers are definetly coming to you & your family.

I did a lot of research at the local Barnes & Noble-I would read for hours there while I was recuperating from the surgery. They had a cafe & lots of chairs scattered in the store. I was sad to see it close due to the bad economy about a year later.

Cacowgirl, the thing about my mom was that she didn't feel sick or anything at all when she was diagnosed. She was having some bleeding and went to her urologist. He sent her to her gyno to make sure it wasn't womanly troubles and they found the cancer a few days later. We were all in shock.

It's been the hardest because everyone is keeping me so out of the loop. My ex-husband knew more about what was going on than I did until Sunday.
Do not tell me I can't...because I will show you that I can.
