Need Tattoo Advice

I was considering getting a tattoo on the inside of my wrist. It would be a small picture of my horse. Do I get it so that when I turn my wrist over I see the picture right side up or should the picture be right side up when my arm is at my side? Basically, should my horse's head be towards my hand or my elbow?

Whichever way you want it. You might get people telling you that having the head towards your wrist is upside down but it is really up to you. I have a tattoo on my wrist and I got it so that it is right side up when I look at it. The guy doing it told me that I was getting it upside down. But it is for me to look at, not others so it is right side up for me.

The horses head should be towards the elbow. Think about it, you're going to walk around with your arms hanging down more than anything else... if the horses head was by your hand, it would be upside down to everyone who sees it. Right? (I have a heart on my wrist and had the same discussion with friends as to how it should point, lol.)

I think its up to you....personally, I would have the potential artist free hand it in permanant marker the way you want, and wear it around for a week to see what you think.

How small is your wrist? And how detailed do you want the picture? I agree it should be facing the elbow. But you want to watch size. Most artists will not do a detailed tattoo really small.

Why don't you get it sideways? It'll always be right side up, because it'll be 'running' (or walking/trotting) up or down your arm.

I actually have a pretty small wrist. I had two pictures of my horse in mind. One was just a head and neck shot, the other was of him cantering. It does not have to be very detailed, but I do not want it to look cartoonish. I just want it big enough that it realistically looks like my horse, not just a horse. Is that reasonable or do I need to think of some place else to put it? I liked the wrist because it was easy to show off without being overly obvious.

I could do the cantering one sideways, with head towards my elbow. It would not look too silly when my arm is down and it would look proper when my arm was up, like here at the keyboard using the mouse.

Darn, now I have been staring at my wrist and all I see are the veins popping out. Is that going to be a problem??

It won't be a problem unless your artist is very heavy handed. When I had my wrist done, she pushed a little heavily over the veins and my fingers started to tingle. All was well, there have been no lasting effects.

I think you should have it on the inside with the horse head away so the neck or bottom on the horse is to you elbow.

I think sideways would be the best. More room to work with for one thing. I have a "few" tattoos one of which is dog prints and horse shoes with my sons name dakota around my wrist.
