New to dresses help

I've never been one to wear a dress. Although I don't plan on starting to wear them all the time like a lot of girls, I would like to have a few for nicer occasions, like a banquet or funeral or something. I'm not a fancy or blingy person; I would want something simple yet elegant, knee length or shorter. I don't know much about dresses so if someone could point me to a website or store with appropriate dresses for me (I'm 19 btw) or give me general dress wearing tips!

Check Macey's. I'm dress shopping too and have found some nice ones.

I was going to suggest Macy's, too. At least around WY and MT, their salespeople are really helpful. We have Dillard's and Herberger's in our region, too. But the staff at Macy's has been most helpful. Even showing us items on sale if they thought it would work.

My daughters have also had luck at Maurice's.

Good luck and have fun!

The people at Vanity are usually pretty helpful.

One of the places I love to shop is Plato's closet. It's gently used Junior's clothing that is brand name. There's a huge selection of anything and you can be certain it's of good quality. You can even take old clothes there and they'll pay you for resale, but usually if the clothing was produced recently and is in style. Still, awesome place to find stuff!

hmm you're in the states and I'm in Canada so we may not have the same stores. HOWEVER I do go to states pretty often and usually hit up Macy's and I always see something I like whether it's in my size or I actually buy it is another issue though, I recently found one of my favourite dresses at target on the clearance rack for 5$ forever 21 have some nice ones though for what you described it may take some looking but it's worth a shot. Do you guys have Garage? (no they do not sell tools) I've found some nice dresses there, including the one I wore to my cousin's wedding.
