Nike signs Michael Vick!! Oh, my.....

Can you believe that Nike has signed Michael Vick to help sell their shoes?!

    OMG!!

"Just re-do it"? Nike's gamble on Michael Vick - CBS News

I have contacted Nike and left my feelings about their use of this morally bankrupt human for their ad campaign. I know one thing.....No money of mine will ever buy a Nike product again and help support Vick's lifestyle. Ever!

    I also signed this petition

I am truly truly speechless! And completely horrified. But I did sign the petition. Thanks for sharing Allison.

I won't eat at Subway anymore either as they gave him some award of some sort not very long ago.

    ETA: here's the Subway story..

But apparently it says that Subway had no say in who was granted this award. I say if that is true that is one stupid marketing/sponsorship guy at Subway.

That burns me up. Always about the bottom dollar with those corporate bozos. Nike just lost another bunch of customers here as well.

Nike has never had my business what with all the sweat shops, but here's yet another reason. Shame.

You know I am very torn about the Vick issue especially as I am an Eagles fan. I really thought long and hard about never supporting the team again - but when I really thought, I am a foster parent, therefore I have to believe in rehabilitation.

I'd never have him dog sit for him, but he served his time. If I didn't believe in rehabilitation, then I need to find a new job.
Speed Racer, gigem88 and jannette like this.

I completely agree he served his time and what not, however I do not agree that he should be placed in a "job" that allows him to serve as a role model for thousands of children. Teaching them that you can do something horrible, go to jail or pay a fine, and still be looked up to and make millions isn't a great story. If he went back to a normal person job I'd be 100% okay with it, it's just the role model part that gets to me.

I see what you are saying, but he is also teaching kids that they can change their ways and go on to be a productive member of society again.

I saw an interview with Michael Vick around the time this story broke. I tried to see some remorse or actual sign that he truly was sorry for what he had done. Too me, all his answers were dry and rehearsed. He talked about the work he was now doing with the Humane Society, but I just could not feel any passion in his voice or demeanor. He kept blaming everything on the culture that he grew up in and dog fighting was a part of that. I just don't see how anyone who cares about animals can intentionally inflict pain on them and think that it is ok.

I do believe in second chances, but in this case, I don't believe that Vick is sincere. He knows that if he wants to play football and make money, he needs to makes us all believe that he is sorry and reformed.

If he is sincere, I hope he puts his money where his mouth is and uses some of those big bucks to help out the animal shelters.
