I've had an accident. I was vacuuming today, and while wrapping up the hose, I accidentally swung the other end of it really hard and it hit the wall, busting it in a little. We have spackling and drywall mud, but I don't know how to fix it. What am I going to tell my parents, we're not exactly on good terms right now??
If you can go to a hardware store, they have kits for patching drywall. It's usually a kind of patch made of "netting" that you cut to fit over the dent, but not too large, spackling to filling it in, you need a putty knife to flatten it, then when it dries, you have to spray a kind of texture over it, if the surrounding walls are textured, and then paint it. Kind of complicated. I have always wondered why we use something as delicate as drywall to make the walls in our houses. It's not very practical, but it is cheap.
Greet your parent(s) at the door and tell them what happened and don't put any "gloss" on it. Just say it and apologize and offer to help repair it. Get ready for an ear full but it really isn't that huge a deal. I've done worse and lived through the Wrath of Mom, LOL!
